Lichinga Link

Working together with the other churches in the Southall Group Ministry, we are supporting the church in the town of Lichinga, Mozambique, through the Diocesan link ALMA. Click here to see Lichinga.

At St George's we take a special collection every year for Lichinga. In 2010, we gave a gift of £5000 to build a church. We also help fund the training of ten church leaders.

Mozambique Trip

In August 2010, Jeff Payne led a team from the Group to Lichinga to strengthen our link and build our relationship. This was an exciting time of experiencing church in a different context and receiving the warmth of their fellowship. The team members were Eddie Allette, Wilson Masih, Dill Britton, Afiya Romain-Bain, Hannah Bookless and Jeff Payne. To read Jeff's report click here.

Walk for Water

In October 2010, members of St. George's did a 'Walk for Water'. This was a sponsored walk along the Grand Union Canal and finishing in Minet Country Park to raise money for a new water well in Lichinga. Members of the other Group churches contributed by sponsoring the walkers! The walk was four miles because this is the average distance Africans walk to collect water each day.
